This was the film that first got me hooked on foreign-made movies. I rented it on a lark and thoroughly enjoyed it -- the overblown production numbers, the lively music, the humor, the colorful direction, the slice of Indian culture (however thin), even the subtitles. And except for one minor bit of what might be considered toilet humor, it's squeaky clean. Maybe that's part of the problem with some of those who didn't like the movie and have come to expect at least some sexuality or provocative scenes in every film. Unfortunately, even Bollywood is beginning to move into some R-rated fare instead of films like this that are closer to PG.
